A severed human head has been found on a hiking trail leading up to the Hollywood sign above Los Angeles.
Police are in the process of trying to discover the identity of the man.
According to one report, the head belongs to an Armenian American in his 40s who had salt and pepper hair.
It was found by two female dog walkers on the hillside below the sign.
They had seen their dogs playing with an object, which on closer inspection turned out to be the “relatively fresh” severed head.
Detectives guarded the Canyon Drive crime scene overnight and are looking for other body parts.
The hillsides around the Hollywood sign are criss-crossed with trails used by hikers, riders, and tourists seeking to reach the tinsel town symbol.
The sign is visible from miles away on the northern rim of the sprawling city.
It is near the site of the grisly ‘Black Dahlia’ murder of 1947, when the horribly mutilated body of aspiring 22-year-old actress Elizabeth Short was found.
