Investigation launched after 22 golf buggies go up in flames at Golf club

AN investigation has been launched after 22 golf buggies went up in flames at the luxury Marriott Hanbury Manor Hotel and Country Club in the early hours of this morning (Thursday February 20).

Firefighters were called to the country retreat, just outside Ware, at 1.30am after reports of a blaze in the golf club car park.

A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokesman said police and the fire service had launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.

He said: “We are currently making enquiries.

“If anyone has any information please contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”

The spokesman said a scene guard had been put in place overnight.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue service said two crews from Hertford and two crews from Ware tackled the fire using one hose reel and one jet before leaving the country club at 2.30am.

“The cause of the fire is doubtful,” she added.
