First Division

Division 1 2011

Tripimeni Olympia 4 Anorthosis 1

Another good win for Tripimeni Olympia it’s a shame they didn’t start off the season like this they left a surge of their good form for the end of the season.

Blustery conditions made it hard to play but both teams gave their own and opportunities arose for both teams. But great individual play from Lairdi broke the deadlock and his first goal was pure strength and class. Then his second goal was composed and a cool finish making it 2 0 half time to Tripimeni. Anorthosis were down to ten men when new signing Lawrence was sent off.

Second half Tripimeni Olympia came out all guns blazing and Yemi made it 3 0 after going past 3 defenders. Ricky Loucas made it 4 0 with some great individual skill.

Anorthosis never gave up and a consolation goal from a free kick from Danny Coolridge made it 4 1.

Apoel 0 New Salamis 5

New Salamis are putting heat on Omonia in the first division championship race with a very comfortable win over Apoel who played well but can’t get any good results lately. Apoel need the points to try and stay up.

New Salamis were 2-0 up half time and in the second half again it was them just coasting along and adding a further three goals.

New Salamis goals came from Nico Muir 2, Deniz Mehmet, Luke Procopiou and Harrison Georgiou.

KLN 9 Maronites 1

What’s happened to KLN they are banging in the goals galore at the moment I hate to cross their path at the moment. Maronites are not their fighting selves at the moment usually they are high spirited and fight till the end.

KLN are fighting really hard to stay in the first division and are battling to stay up as are Apoel and Livadia.

KLN’s goals came from Nurhan 3, Panny 3, Rio and Giorgio 2 and Maronites from Tom Boxer.

Livadia 1 Brotherhood 2

Livadia must be kicking themselves after a good performance against a formidable Brotherhood team who held their own with a sterling win and won in the end.

Brotherhood’s goals came from Aaron Kennedy and Paul Yiannakas. Livadia’s only goal came from Alex Kounnas.

Second Division

Table1

Achna 1 Arachne 7

Arachne have now made it 6 wins in a row and maintained their 100% record in 2016 with another impressive display against Achna. It was Achna who started the brighter and were in front in the first 10 minutes with a goal from Kevin Boateng.

Arachne soon equalised through Leo Charalambous. Conditions were very difficult as the ball held up in the mud, and at the interval the game remained all square with Achna unlucky not to go in ahead after missing two gilt edged chances.

I don’t know what Andrew Polycarpou said to he’s players at half time but Arachne came out all guns blazing and within 5 minutes of the break were 3-1 up. They went from strength to strength and continued the onslaught onto Achnas goal.

A further 4 goals were scored, resulting in a 7-1 victory. Arachne’s goals were scored by Leo Charalambous, John Holmes, Lorenzo Toumazos 2 and Damien Spyrou 2. Arachne’s next game is against St Panteleimon and they will be hoping for victory in order to take the title race down to the last game of the season.

Pantel 2 Komi Kebir 3

Komi controlled the opening phase of this game and won an early corner which Theo Vassiliou swung in for Jason Lambri to powerfully head his side ahead. Theo was involved again when he crossed from the left for Andreas Bryant to make it 2-0 with a volley at the back post. Komi Right back Andreas Theodorou then found himself one on one and could have put his team further in front but snatched at the shot and blazed it over. The Second half saw Pantel rejuvenated and with 20 minutes to go they got a goal back with a speculative effort from Daniel Moyses which flew past Ari in Komi’s goal.

Their equaliser came just five minutes later as they won a free kick taken by Alex Constantinou and which went in at the far post. Komi kicked off and after some good build up play Luis Hanna played a one two with Chris Andrea, beat his marker and the 18 year old scored the winner with a powerful finish.
