Quarter Final
Olympia 1 New Salamis 2: New Salamis made a difficult job of beating newly promoted to the first division Olympia. The first half ended 1-1 with the New Salamis goal coming from Mario Georgiou and Leno scoring the equaliser for Olympia. It was a tense game and made the reds nervous and it took till the 70th minute for New Salamis to score their winner with a Richard Georgiou header. This result means that New Salamis will now play Cetinkaya Cinar in the Challenge Cup Semi Final. In the other semi final Rizokarpasso play the winner of the quarter Final clash between AEL v Omonia. The Challenge Cup Final this year will be played at Barnet FC Underhill Stadium on Sunday May the 13th.
While this game was going on news filtered in that Tripimeni drew with Cetinkaya Cinar as a result New Salamis were declared the KOPA League Champions for year 2012 with still two games to play versus Panthea and Tripimeni and still unbeaten with it.
First Division
AEL 1 Rizokarpasso 6: AEL with a weakened team held their own in the first half but in the second half they just could not hold their own. Rizokarpasso had taken the lead from the 10th minute with a goal from Ben Andrea. George Michael equalised in the 20th minute for AEL before Ben Andreas scored in the 30th minute to take Rizo into the break 2-1 up.
The second half left AEL chasing for an equaliser buit left themselves wide open at the back and Rizokarpasso capitalised on this to score four further goals with another from Ben giving him a hat trick, Luke Crowe scoring two and Leon Semper scoring one too making Rizo 6-1 victors and leaving AEL in despair needing one point from their last game against Tripimeni to stay up.
Cetinkaya Cinar 1 Tripimeni 1: Before the game started Tripimeni were still in with a chance of the first division title and blew it by drawing with Cinar . Cetinkaya now requires two points from their last two games versus Rizokarpasso and Brotherhood to stay in the First Division. Tripimeni led from the 27th minute with a goal from Tyrone Husbands and it took till the 70th minute for Cetinkaya Cinar to equalise with an absolute cracker from Marcus Samuels.
Division 2 Divisional Cup
Arachne 6 Achna 3: What a cracking cup game this was, Achna were three nil up at half time with goals from Greg Christoforou, Andy Stylianou and Michael Charalambous but what happened in the second half was remarkable when Arachne fought back to be 6-3 victors with their goals coming from Leo Charalambous 2, Damien Spyrou 2, Lorenzo and Adam and now go on to play Pantel or Pendayia in the semi final of the Division 2 Divisional Cup.
Division 2
Cyprus Youth(KLN) 1 Komi Kebir 1: Much improved Cyprus Youth(KLN) are really gaining momentum at the end of this season after a good result 2-2 against the the second division champions Apoel last week then this week they gave Komi Kebir a run for their money with a 1-1 draw. Komi were leading from the 18th minute with a goal from Andy Kyprianides and as usually KLN fought back and scored in the dying minutes with a goal from Yan Yiannakis to lift them off the bottom of the table to second from bottom and leaving Achna to hold the second division lower spot.
