A 16-year-old monk died Tuesday in a tractor accident, on a dirt road west of Avdellero-Athienou.
Epiphanius Andreas Stavridis, of the Monastery of Saint Epiphanius Palaioimerologiton, was driving his tractor downhill when it overturned and tumbled 30-40m off the road.
He was taken by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital where he was found to be dead on arrival.
The young monk was the son of Father Andreas Stavridis from Avdellero’s church of “Genuine Orthodox Christians” and entered the Monastery when he was 13.
