Larnaca hotel guests enjoy free activities

Following the success of last year’s complimentary activities for Larnaca region hotel guests, the town’s tourism board (LTB) has once again offered the programme as of November 1.
The week’s schedule of activities has been created by the LTB in conjunction with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), and will run until April 30, 2015 for Larnaca hotel guests.
There is a different activity every day of the week. On Monday, there is Rejuvenating Beach Gymnastics on the Phinikoudes sands, on Tuesday there is a visit to the Mazotos Camel Park and on Wednesday, there is a walking tour of the old town, complete with professional tour guide. Thursday’s activity is a trip to the village of Athienou, which includes a visit to the Kallinikio Museum and the Flour Mill, along with halloumi making. On Friday, there is another guided tour – this time of the local workshops, where traditional crafts are practised. On Saturday, there is an excursion to the three picturesque villages of Lefkara, Tochni and Skarinou, and finally, a series of musical performances will take place every Sunday morning on the Phinikoudes Seafront Stage.
The activities are all free of charge upon presentation of a voucher issued by the hotels for their staying guests. All the activities are available on a ‘turn up and enjoy’ basis except for the two village excursions which require one day’s notice.
Tourism Officer Nana Asmeni Pavlou says that the programme is back this winter due to popular demand: “Last year saw the launch of complimentary winter activities for all Larnaca region hotel guests to showcase that Larnaca is an all-year-round destination with much to offer outside of the sun and sea season. The response was very positive and the majority of hotel guests participated in at least one activity in the programme. We found that guests appreciated the added value of their stay and that there is demand to continue offering these incentives again this year.”
The LTB was set up in 2008 and since then has initiated many projects for the upgrading and clear branding of the region’s tourist offering, as well as other improvement projects.
