Leeds Greek School gets Local MP to help save the Greek A Level.

Leeds MP, Mr Fabian Hamilton has given his full support to the national campaign to “Save the Modern Greek A Level”. Fabian came to an extraordinary meeting last Saturday (06/06/2015) at the Leeds Greek School, organised by its Chairman, Mr Barry Paschali, to give his advice on how to best persuade the exam board, Edexcel to reverse their decision to disband the Modern Greek A Level in 2017. The Leeds Greek School is in the heart of his constituency and he has been their local MP for the last 18 years.

Fabian offered to set up a special meeting in the House of Commons and invite other local MPs of Greek Communities together with community representative to show Edexcel the true feelings of the UK Greek Community. He asked the meeting to let him have details of other local Greek communities in the UK so that he can make contact with their local MPs and gain further support. He also recommended that parents write to the Chief Executive of Edexcel and demand the decision is reversed.

The Leeds Greek School now has nearly 100 students with seven students taking the A course this year alone. More children are anticipated to be sitting the exam in the coming years and the school sees it as an important and valuable examination.
