Police have confirmed a shooting incident in Limassol during which a man of 67 shot and killed his teenage 19 year old son.
Media reports say the shooting took place in the Limassol village of Paramytha during which the father reportedly shot his 19-year-old son with a hunting rifle following a row. Police have also confirmed that the father – who is said to be a pensioner – was then pulled to the ground by his other son during which both suffered serious injuries.
The father is under police guard and in not a serious condition in Limassol General hospital. The 19-year-old son was dead on arrival.
The incident took place at just after 2pm today Wednesday.
“This is a family tragedy,” the head of the Limassol CID Ioannis Soteriades told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
Soteriades said that the perpetrator was disarmed by his older son, who rushed to see what had happened, after he heard the two shots.
Sigmalive reported that the family had financial problems and that the 19-year-old was the son of the 67-year-old and his third wife.
