Loft damaged by fire in Lower Edmonton

The roof and loft room of an end-of-terrace house on Danube Close in Lower Edmonton was badly damaged by fire yesterday evening.

A woman and a child left the house before the Brigade arrived at the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Station Manager Daniel Alie who was at the fire said:

“The fire started in the loft room and the alarm was raised by a neighbour who saw smoke coming out of the roof. Fire crews had to work very quickly to confine the fire to the loft and roof area of the house and stop it spreading to neighbouring properties.”

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Edmonton, Chingford, Tottenham and Enfield fire stations attended the incident.

The Brigade was called at 1858 and the fire was under control at 2055.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to be an electrical fault.
