A 43-year-old man in Limassol has been arrested and charged after sending pornographic images to an 11-year-old girl in Nicosia.
Police Spokesman Andreas Angelides on Tuesday said the child’s mother complained to the police after realising the man had sent the images to her daughter.
He had used the Viber mobile phone app for the purpose.
Angelides said the man was tracked down and arrested on Monday following a search at his home.
He was formally charged on Tuesday with sexually exploiting a minor and is due to appear in court at a later date.
Angelides also called on parents to maintain open channels of communication with their children and to keep a discreet eye on their interaction with others to best protect them.
