Man produces Greek fake driving licence and identity card when stopped by Police

On Saturday 31 October two men were arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs after City of London Police’s Project Servator officers found drugs hidden in two vehicles stopped on Blackfriars Bridge and Farringdon Street.

At approximately 16.45 a man was stopped in a black Audi A3 on Blackfriars Bridge and produced a fake Greek driving licence and Greek fake identity card.

The vehicle was then searched at a nearby police station by a police dog. A sock containing 43 bags of suspected cocaine worth approximately £2150 was found hidden in a void behind the steering wheel lodged into the roof cavity.

Denis Avdiaj, 21 (02/03/1994) from Albania was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs and being in possession of false ID documents. He was remanded to attend the City of London Magistrates Court.

On the same day at approximately 18.05 officers stopped and searched a blue VW Passat on Farringdon Street. Concealed behind a storage compartment next to the steering wheel, officers found a large bag containing 33 wraps of suspected cocaine and a sock containing 25 wraps of cocaine.

A 23 year old man from Morden, Surrey was arrested on suspicion of supplying class A drugs and has been bailed until December.

Sergeant Matt Timms from the City of London Police’s Project Servator team said:

“The City of London has become a popular destination for partygoers on the weekend which brings with it some anti social behaviour and illegal activities such as drug dealing.

“Our officers will continue to get results like this by using specialist tactics to catch criminals who are in the process or about to commit a crime.”

“We want people to come here to have a great time without them becoming a victim of crime or potentially ending up behind bars.
