A man has been sentenced to prison after breaking into cars in Hatfield
Michael Forbes, aged 39, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to eight weeks’ imprisonment at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 10 September.
He had pleaded guilty to two incidents of theft from a motor vehicle and breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order.
The vehicles he stole from had been parked in The Galleria and Northfield, Hatfield in the early hours Tuesday 8 September when Forbes smashed the windows to get inside.
Welwyn Hatfield Chief Inspector Chris Rutter said: “Thanks to the diligent work of officers, this offender has been identified, arrested and is now behind bars. We will continue to pursue those who target our communities, but prevention is just as important. Criminals often look for easy opportunities, so I would urge motorists to remove all valuables from their vehicles, even items of little value, and ensure vehicles are locked and secure. A few simple precautions can make a real difference in preventing crime and protecting your property.”
