Motorists today faced three hour delays after a manhole ‘collapsed’ on one of London’s busiest roads.
The westbound lane of the busy North Circular at Colney Hatch Lane, Muswell Hill, was blocked since around 6am this morning after brickwork underneath the hole caved in.
A spokesman for Transport for London said traffic is being directed to one lane while contractors fix the problem.
Two lanes have been closed and long delays due to emergency repairs and collapsed manhole on A406 North Circular Road Westbound between A109 Bounds Green Road / Station Road (New Southgate) and B550 Colney Hatch Lane, congestion on A406 Sterling Way to A1010 (Fore Street, Edmonton).
Travel time is around 35 minutes. Only lane three open (Since 05:45) towards Henly’s Corner, just after the tunnel, after several vehicles were damaged. Still queuing beyond the A10.
He said the A406 is not expected to re-open again until 2pm this afternoon.
