Mayor of London visits Cypriot-owned The Boutique

London Mayor Boris Johnson (2nd from left), accompanied by Nick de Bois (right), Conservative candidate for Enfield North, visit bridal store The Boutique, owned by Greek Cypriot sisters Christine Michaels-Mehmet (left) and Andrea Michaels (2nd from right).

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson last Wednesday visited a number of shops which have benefited from a scheme called Help For High Streets, a programme encouraging high street traders and cutting business rates for small enterprise, including bridal wear shop The Boutique in Hertford Road.

The shop’s co-owner Greek Cypriot Christine Michaels-Mehmet said: “The scheme has been brilliant for us and has really helped.

“My children made cards for Boris which he enjoyed and my son asked why he wasn’t standing for Mayor again. He said eight years was a long time.

“Boris is so full of life and it was great he took the time to speak to us and have his picture taken with us.”
