Four pupils aged between 14 and 16-years-old were apparently placing wagers on greyhound races – illegal in Cyprus — in a betting shop in Limassol, police said.
According to Limassol police spokespman Ioannis Soteriades, the minors were inside the betting shop when it was raided by police on Wednesday.
The 38-year old manager of the establishment attempted to turn off the computers, used for gambling, but was stopped by police.
He was arrested along with two other employees of the shop, who were found to have outstanding fines.
The manager was charged in writing and released. The two employees paid their fines and were subsequently released.
Two computers, 18 betting coupons, two printers and €182 in cash were seized from the betting shop, police said.
