Two missiles detached themselves from a fighter aircraft Tornado GR4 while landing at RAF Akoritiri on Wednesday during military exercises.
The British Bases spokesperson, Kristian Gray, said: ‘While landing on the runway two Brimstone missiles detached from the GR4 aircraft, they did not detonate and no injuries occurred .’
The Ministry of Defence are making the area secure by removing the missiles.
However due to the serious incident flights have been cancelled from the Akoritiri base. The runway has been cornered for safety.
Investigations are ongoing.
