Akel MP Stavros Evagorou and his wife had a lucky escape on Sunday after they were involved in a serious car crash in Larnaca.
According to the opposition party spokesperson, Giorgos Loukaides, both Evagorou and his wife Eva were treated for bruising and shock at Larnaca General Hospital. The injuries were sustained from the impact with the car’s airbags according to doctors.
Both have since been released from hospital.
The accident occurred on the Larnaca-Oroklini road when Evagorou’s car was struck from behind by a bus in his attempt to turn right. A third vehicle, which had been coming in the other direction, failed to stop in time and ended up colliding into Evagorou’s car.
There were no other injuries.
Evagorou and his wife had just left a memorial service for Soteris Konstantinou where the deputy had laid down a wreath on behalf of his party.
