Mrs Theo Education’s top tips for surviving lockdown learning

Classrooms around the UK have once again been disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic with millions of children having to undertake remote learning.

Andrea Theoharous, founder and director of Mrs Theo Education Ltd, has been a teacher in London throughout the past decade. Recognising that home schooling can take its toll on parents, she shares below her top 5 tips to ensure lockdown education survival, including access to free online tuition for the community.

  1. Children need routine – some of the children in my Google classroom like to wear their school uniform for online lessons so they know this is school. Also, create a timetable so the children can relate to – email Mrs Theo for a free timetable sample.
  2. Outdoor exercise and play – regular breaks and fresh air aid concentration.
  3. Quite time and reading – this is time for parents too.
  4. Learn life skills: chores, tidying, baking, helping with cooking dinner – these are all forms of education.
  5. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Mrs Theo is offering free online tuition for Primary School children to help them during this lockdown.

Andrea Theoharous, said: “The pandemic and the cycle of lockdowns has disrupted classrooms across the country. I have had to swap my classroom in Knightsbridge for my dining table at home and know first-hand the struggles of recreating the engagement and interaction of the classroom online. I have seen children struggle with confidence and not being able to have one-to-one support, feeling isolated and alone.

“Many parents in the community have reached out for advice and support and I urge anyone with questions on home schooling to reach out. What the pandemic has taught us is that we are all in this together and we can all play a part in our community. To play our part, Mrs Theo Education would like to offer free online classes for our community’s Primary School children.”

If you’re concerned about how you’re going to juggle home schooling again, Mrs Theo has all the best resources available for parents and caregivers to help keep your child’s education on track.
