Mystery still surrounds the cause of earth jolts felt in the past 48 hours in many areas of the Famagusta region.
Quake-like tremors, which some said was accompanied by a loud noise were first felt in the Famagusta-Larnaca regions two days ago.
The Geological department said that no quake was recorted at the time, but a jolt was detected although not of seismic origin.
A second jold was felt yesterday at six in the afternoon, causing concern.
Police spokesman Andreas Angelidis said that following an extensive police search, no damage was found on cars or buildings nor was the source of the jolt discovered.
The police conducted a new search today in coordination with the National Guard and the defence ministry in a new effort to shed light into this strange phenomenon.
