New Cyprus Government Spokesman assumes his duties

New Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou assumed today his duties during a ceremony that took place in the Presidential Palace.

Prodromou thanked the President of the Republic for his appointment noting that it does not only constitute an honor but also a great responsibility which ‘we will assume together with Deputy Government Spokeswoman Klelia Vasiliou’.

‘We assure you that we will make every effort to fullfill our duties and the needs of this position’ he said, pointing out that the cooperation with the press will be a very close one.

He thanked his predecessor, Nikos Christodoulides, and congratulated him on his new duties at the Foreign Ministry.

“We will do our best to fulfil what the President has in his program as best as possible but also to move on new paths towards the changes that are needed in our country and which make Cyprus constantly better, always in cooperation with the political forces and the society without any discrimination’ he pointed out.

Former Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides said he has no doubt that the new Government Spokesman and his Deputy Government Spokeswoman will not only fulfil their duties towards the President of the Republic but also towards the government, the political life of Cyprus and the society in general.

He thanked President Anastasiades for his confidence in him all those years and expressed his thanks to the journalist, saying that he had a close cooperation with them and hoped that this cooperation will continue during his next duties as the new Foreign Minister.

Taking the floor, former Deputy Government Spokesman Viktoras Papadopoulos wished Prodromou and Vasiliou every success in their ‘difficult duties’ expressing conviction that their term in office will be a successful one.
