Nicholas & Co Solicitors is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Kypros Nicholas, the founding partner of the practice which he established in 1969, wishes to thank everyone who has helped Nicholas & Co reach its milestone year, particularly all staff, past and present, as well as all clients over the years.
Mr Nicholas began his legal career as a barrister, qualifying in 1963, but very quickly decided it wasn’t for him and that his path was to be a solicitor serving the local Greek Cypriot community.
With the support of his wife Maroulla, he established Nicholas & Co in 1969, working from their family home.
He worked hard and managed later that year to purchase 268-270 Seven Sisters Road and started work in the company offices above a supermarket. “I still own that building as I am quite sentimental,” Mr Nicholas told Parikiaki.
Soon enough, there were queues of clients just like in a doctor’s waiting room, and so a few years later, the practice expanded with the purchase of 262 Seven Sisters Road, a few doors down, where it remained for several years before moving to the current offices in Wigmore Street, making it easier for the practice’s increasing international clients.
Nicholas & Co will be on the move again shortly to new, larger premises at Bourlet Close, just down the road from Wigmore Street, to meet clients’ needs.
Reflecting on the various highlights of his career, Mr Nicholas said he’s extremely proud that all three of his children, Yiota, Stella and Nick, have worked at Nicholas & Co over the years.
“Nick is currently heading the business and doing an excellent job. My grandson and namesake Kypros, is also working at Nicholas & Co as a trainee, thus making it three generations.”
Mr Nicholas continued, “I’m immensely proud of what I have achieved as a young boy from Khirokitia. I am very happy to say that Nicholas & Co is in the extremely capable hands of my son Nick, as well as Philip who has been at the practice since we were on Seven Sisters Road.”
“I would like to finish by thanking everybody again who has made reaching 50 years of Nicholas & Co possible. We would not be here without all the clients and every member of staff past and present,” Mr Nicholas concluded.
