Nicosia 2016 Environment and Recycling Festival a great success

Green Dot`s Nicosia 2016 Environment and Recycling Festival was held successfully on May 14, in a Akropolis Park in Strovolos.

According to a Green Dot press release, the all-day environmental Festival lasted ten hours and aimed at providing information, education and entertainment to the people who attended. Entrance was free.

The aim of the Festival was to educate young and old in environmental and recycling issues, in an entertaining way.

This year was the first time the Festival included sports, in which all could attend free of charge and receive relevant information by professionals in the field.

At the Festival there was a variety of educational games, giving children the opportunity to learn about recycling through play, and at the same time be entertained by clowns and magicians.

Furthermore, there were two stages which hosted children`s plays and dance shows during the Festival.

Special kiosks dotted around the grounds of the park hosted various organisations, which informed the public about environmental issues.

There was also plenty of food and refreshments at very low prices at the Festival`s cafeteria.

The Festival was once again dedicated to the Rethink (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) awareness campaign, which is co-funded by the EU programme Life+.

The main sponsor of the Festival was Petrolina (Holdings) Public Ltd. Supporters were Collective Compliance Systems for the Management of Household Batteries and Electrical and Electronic Appliances, AFIS and Electrocyclosis respectively, KPMG, Strovolos Municipality, the Cyprus Sports Organisation, the Cyprus Federations of Chess, Badmington, Table Tennis, Weight Lifting, and Archery, and the group Drumble Beats.

Communication sponsors were Radio Proto and magazine Time Out Cyprus.

Green Dot Cyprus would like to thank all organisations which participated in the Festival and of course the sponsors, supporters and communication sponsors for their support and assistance.
