North London getting younger while UK population ages, figures across Barnet, Haringey, Enfield

North London is getting younger and bucking the ageing trend across the rest of the UK, recent figures suggest.

Data released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) showed Barnet, Enfield and Haringey all saw their average ages drop by up to two years between 1989 and 2011.

Harrow was the only north London borough in which the mean age rose, with an increase of up to two years.

The ONS statistics showed that areas of central London are seeing populations become, on average, up to four years younger than they were in the late 1980s.
