Odd welcome for cruise passengers arriving at Limassol port

Thousands of cruise passengers arriving at Limassol port are given a rather odd welcome to Cyprus

“Welcome To Turkey” is how three thousand cruise passengers were welcomed to Limassol port where the cruise ship they were travelling on docked this morning.

This incorrect and rather odd welcome to the island of Cyprus was carried out via flyers handed out by staff on the cruise ship.

According to senior staff aboard the luxury cruise liner Costa Atlantica, the strange welcome was down to a typographic error — which said ”Welcome to Turkey, enjoy your stay in Limassol.”

The cruise liner officials apologised for the mistake, and stressed it was a mix-up since the ship’s next stop is Turkey.

Representatives from Limassol Municipality — who were at the port to welcome the start of routes by the Costa Atlantica to and from Limassol on its Mediterranean itinerary — decided not to board the ship in a sign of protest.
