Miltiadis Tentoglou, the Olympic and world long jump champion, recorded the world’s longest jump of the year with a leap of 8.46 meters at the European Athletics Team Championships in Madrid on Saturday.
The Greek star produced the standout performance on his second attempt, despite launching from 14 centimeters behind the take-off board. The jump ranks as the eighth best of his career and earned 16 valuable points for the national team.
Tentoglou, a double Olympic gold medalist with multiple World and European titles among his 11 career golds, had struggled to regain top form earlier this season following illness during the indoor campaign.
