Health authorities have been alarmed by three bacterial meningitis cases in the past month and are taking additional precautions.
Head of health services Andreas Georgiou told our station that a woman is in critical but stable condition at the Nicosia General Hospital with a second 55 year old patient in the same hospital having improved considerably.
A 70 year old woman died earlier this week after contracting bacterial meningitis.
Yeorgiou ruled out any connection between the three cases, saying it was simply a coincidence.
