This past year has been a challenging time for us all; the series of lockdowns have disrupted every aspect of everyday life and many of us have adapted by connecting via social media and various apps on our devices, however, not everything can be replaced with an online presence.
We, as a community, are used to being present at Churches for funerals, memorials, for celebrations, and to give thanks to God and ask for his mercy and guidance in our lives. Unfortunately, only those that can access the internet are able to view services online and we know that many in the community rely on our newspaper to be informed about the Church calendar or any other important announcements from the Archdiocese.
It has been incredibly difficult for the Churches and their committees to manage the current situation in adhering to the governments ever-changing restrictions. Not only this, but each Church has a different set of circumstances that dictate what it can and can’t do, and how many, if any, are physically welcome in the Church. It is for this reason we have not been able to inform our readers about the operations of the individual Churches in our community.
For more information, please visit your parish Church’s website or social media page, or alternatively please contact the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain online at www.thyateira.org.uk or by phone 020 7723 4787.
We remain hopeful that with the easing of restrictions, we will be able to celebrate with our loved ones soon. On behalf of Parikiaki, I would like to wish all the community a very Happy Easter, Kali Anastasi!
