The aim of his government is to safeguard and boost the economy even more, so that the country`s sustainable growth will continue at a steady pace.
He also noted that the intensive way in which the constructive sector in Cyprus has been operating during the last period proves that the government focused on taking decisions and measures so that the country will be able to exit recession and become an attractive destination for foreign investors.
Addressing a ceremony during which the foundation of the tallest building in Nicosia was laid, Anastasiades noted, according to a press release issued by the Presidency, that at the beginning of his term in office the government followed a policy aiming at opening new routes of prosperity and progress and lifting the adverse conditions of the economic crisis which Cyprus faced.
He added that the government took targeted measures and managed to attract investments that resulted in an intense construction activity and a sharp increase of the demand for building units.
Anastasiades also referred to the submission of the Policy Statement on Entrepreneurship, at the Presidency`s initiative, noting that it promoted start-ups activities. He also said that the incentives for businesses created new investments and raised the revenues, something which played a decisive role in reversing recession, reducing unemployment and getting back on the track of growth.
At the same time, he added, Cyprus managed to secure more European funds, while using those available as much as possible.
Furthermore he congratulated the Nicosia Municipality for making use of the incentives, noting that he wants Nicosia to become a modern capital. He said that with this new building “360” the centre of the town will get a fresh look and the surrounding area will be upgraded.
