The President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos gave a statement on Cyprus, today, during the reception hosted by the Monastery of Agios Dionysios of Zakynthos, in the presence of Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II.
“Greece and the Greek people must defend Cyprus, its sovereign rights and the liberation of Cypriot soil”, Prokopis Pavlopoulos said.
“Everything we do for Cyprus is driven not only by our concern for the island, but also by the fact that Cyprus is a member state of EU”, the President added. “The undermining of Cyprus’ sovereign rights represents an undermining of EU’s sovereignty also, which is something that we cannot accept”, he underlined.
Pavlopoulos addressing the Archbishop of Cyprus said: «Οur thoughts are with you in Cyprus, and I consider this concern as a help to the great task, which you have assumed”.
