Police in Haringey are aware of a planned event this evening by members of Unite Against Fascism outside Tottenham Town Hall, N17.
Officers are in contact with the organisers and an appropriate policing plan has been put into place.
We are also working closely with Haringey Council.
On Saturday, 21 June, Police officers were patrolling Markfield Recreation Ground, N15.
At approximately 20:00hrs a 22-year-old Polish national was arrested after a man’s kippah was pushed from his head. He has subsequently been charged with racially and religiously aggravated common assault.
At approximately 21:15hrs in another part of the park a privately organised music event was being held. A group of around 20 people, predominantly male and from the Eastern European community, arrived at the location during the course of the event and a disturbance took place.
A short while later, a 24-year-old Polish man who had suffered a stab wound, was found on Markfield Road, N15. He was taken by the London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital where his condition is not believed to be serious.
Enquiries continue into the disturbance, during which items were thrown, and into the stabbing. We are not aware of any further injuries.
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to call Haringey CID on 101. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
