Raab describes meetings with Anastasiades and Cavusoglu in Geneva as “valuable” and urges “flexibility”

The UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has added to his Twitter account posts from Geneva, where he is attending the informal ‘5+1’ UN-led talks on Cyprus, with a reference to his earlier bilateral meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Mr Raab described the meeting as “valuable” and added: “I urged flexibility on all sides to secure progress towards a just and lasting #CyprusSettlement.”

Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield resultsThe UK Foreign Secretary has completed his Twitter references to the bilateral meetings he held on Wednesday in Geneva, in the margins of the UN-led informal talks on the Cyprus issue, with a post about his discussion with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades.

“Good meeting with @AnastasiadesCY in Geneva today,” wrote Dominic Raab, posting a picture of the meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus.

“With trust and compromise, the parties can find a solution to #CyprusSettlement that meets the objectives of all sides,” added the British Foreign Secretary.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results.
