Ryman League Division 1 North 10th November 2015 Oakside Stadium
Haringey Borough made the short journey to Oakside Stadium to play Redbridge for the first ever time for league points. Although they had played Ford United 3 matches in the FAC.
For only the second time this season, Haringey came away with three points from a league match. Both Haringey and Redbridge’s games were called of the previous Saturday so players from both sides should have been rested. The pitch didn’t show any ruts and the ball keep true on passes along the ground.
The game started with a minute’s silence, which was only broken by the occasional firework and a loud ringtone, from someone in the crowd.
Dewayne Clarke arrived late so was replaced by Nana Asamoah from the bench, with one other change from the team that beat Dunstable Town 10 days before. (Ross Dedman replacing Rakim Richards).
With over 100 goals in Redbridge’s games this season in just 24 matches, the crowd were hoping for the same and it did start brightly, within the first minute Redbridge’s number 3 had a shot flash across goal, but it really didn’t materlised and chances were few and far between.
Haringey Borough did have the bulk of these chances, but weak shots and off target efforts weren’t testing the home keeper. Then in the 22nd minute the deadlock was broken. The ball was taken down the left wing by Ishmail Kamara who cut into the penalty box and passed across goal, where Daniel Aristidou side footed in from six yards.
Just before half-time, a Leroy Griffiths shot was tipped over.
The second half started and just like the first, chances were not forthcoming. Ashley Harris in the Boro goal had a couple of decent saves but that was really that.
Haringey’s number 11 Anthony McDonald was being involved in everything and this probably lead to the highlight or should I say lowlight of the second half.
Just before the final whistle McDonald made a tackle which lead to a mass brawl, that lasted at least two minutes. The tackle wasn’t malicious just clumsy and he caught the Redbridge player, who went down. Handbags all round. The end result was yellows cards for McDonald and Redbridge’s number 14.
The final whistle went and Haringey had inched their way closer to the teams above them.
So a clean sheet and 3 league points, will be a great tonic going into Saturdays FA trophy match with Hitchin.
