With reference to the news item on 24 November, I read with disgust the price placed on the life of the unfortunate Greek Cypriot who was shot by the Turks while gathering snails.
The price of the life of Mr Petros Kakoulli was €30,000. It is a good job it was not Turkish lira. Can you imagine how cheap the life of a compatriot is? In other countries, they pay that amount if you lose a finger.
We should erect a statue to Mr Petros Kakoulli near the spot where he was killed, to tell the world how cheap his life was considered and the reason why he lost it.
