Police are appealing for information to identify two men wanted for questioning in connection with a commercial robbery at a betting shop in Enfield.
On Sunday, 7 August at around 09:00hrs, two young men entered Paddy Power bookmakers on Hertford Road, N9. The two arrived from the direction of Cleveland Road. The shop assistant opened the door and allowed an elderly male customer to enter. The two suspects followed the customer inside.
Once inside the venue, one of the suspects forced the shop assistant into her kiosk while the second suspect attempted to dismantle the CCTV system.
The cashier was threatened with violence and was forced to open the safe. The suspects then left the shop with £800 in cash. They were last seen running toward Cleveland Road.
The suspects were unarmed. They are described as black males, aged around 18 years. One of the men was wearing a very distinctive patterned jacket at the time of the robbery and was carrying a rucksack.
Detective Constable Ross Moultrie, of the Met’s Flying Squad, said: “Despite the attempted destruction of the security CCTV at the venue we are able to release images of the men we wish to speak with. I urge anyone who recognises these men to contact police or Crimestoppers immediately.
“This was a frightening and distressing experience for the victim who was roughly handled and threatened with further violence.”
Anyone who can name either or both of these men should call the Flying Squad on 020 8345 435 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
