It’s party time! Are you ready for the festive party season? Here are a few tips to rock and be the star that you are!
There are some things that need to be done a day or so before your event in order to allow for any tell tale signs to subside; things such as hair colouring, eyelash / brow tinting or brow shaping and any waxing, in case there is any initial redness.
The day before the event, get your nails manicured and feet pedicured so that they look fresh for the event and the rest of the week.
The night before your event, do your exfoliating and apply a good moisturising oil, serum or cream suitable for your skin type, so that it can be absorbed through the night adequately.
Get yourself in the mood with some music that will make you feel happy and ready to party.
Get your make up in order with a glam look that will stand out. Apply some concealer and foundation in areas that require it. Don’t cover the entire face unless absolutely necessary as in heat it may be uncomfortable. Instead just use it on the areas needed. If you have a good colour match of the correct product, it will not show.
Next, apply your fine loose mineral matt powder to reduce any shine and help the make-up stay put.
Put some eye shadow primer on your eyelids so that it will give a true colour of the eye shadow and will also hold it.
Apply your eyeliner by holding the corner of your brow lid upwards so that the eyeliner will not drag down when released. Apply to outer corners with a darker colour and a different colour on the inner corners for more dramatic effect. If you do use liner on the inner rim of the eye, make sure it is a soft kajal pencil so as not to scratch. A light blue works well and will make the eyes look larger and brighter.
Apply your mascara while looking straight ahead. Apply 2-3 thin coats rather than one big thick clumpy coat of mascara that won’t look even.
If you were dramatic with eyeshadow, make sure your lipstick matches with the colour tones in your shadows, otherwise it will look very technicolour. For example if eyeshadow is a pink or grey colour, opt for a lipstick that has pink tones within rather than reds or another colour that will clash.
If your eyeshadow is charcoal or grey, red lips will compliment well for an absolute striking effect.
For a more au natural look, you don’t have to work too hard. Use browns or mocha colours closest to your skin tone, a little peachy cheek glow and a just beyond nude lip colour and gloss.
Go over your hair with some straightening irons or curling tong wands to smooth out any flyaway or frizz.
Pop into a style with an added accessory that suits your style of clothing.
Spray your favourite scent and off you go.
Have fun!
