Speaking outside Southwark Crown Court today, Detective Chief Inspector Michael Orchard, said:
“Rolf Harris has habitually denied any wrongdoing forcing his victims to recount their ordeal in public.
“He committed many offences in plain sight of people as he thought his celebrity status placed him above the law.
“I want to thank the women who came forward for their bravery, I hope today’s guilty verdict will give them closure and help them to begin to move on with their lives.
“Today’s case and verdict once again shows that we will always listen to, and investigate allegations regardless of the time frame or those involved.”
We have received a number of new allegations and these are now being considered.
Sentencing is due to take place at 10.00 on Friday 4 July.
The counts are as follows:
Count 1 – Indecent assault, contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
Between the 1st day of January 1968 and the 1st day of January 1970 indecently assaulted a female person aged seven or eight years by touching her vagina.
Count 2 – Indecent assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
Between the 1st day of January 1975 and the 1st day of January 1979 indecently assaulted a female person aged 12 to 16 years, by rubbing her buttocks.
Count 3 – Indecent assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
Between the 31st day of December 1978 and the 4th day of April 1981 indecently assaulted a female person aged between 13 and 15 years, by digitally penetrating her vagina on an occasion other than in counts four, five and seven.
Count 4 – Indecent assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
Between the 31st day of December 1978 and the 4th day of April 1981 indecently assaulted a female person aged between 13 and 15 years, by digitally penetrating her vagina on an occasion other than in counts three, five and seven.
Count 5 – Indecent assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
Between the 31st day of December 1978 and the 4th day of April 1981 indecently assaulted a female person aged between 13 and 15 years, by digitally penetrating her vagina on an occasion other than in counts three, four and seven.
Count 6 – Indecent assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
Between the 31st day of December 1978 and the 4th day of April 1981 indecently assaulted a female person aged between 13 and 15 years, by digitally penetrating her vagina on an occasion other than in count eight.
Count 7 – Indecent assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
Between the 31st day of December 1978 and the 4th day of April 1981 indecently assaulted a female person aged between 13 and 15 years, by digitally penetrating her vagina on an occasion other than in counts three, four and five.
Count 8 – Indecent Assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
Between 31st day of December 1978 and 4th day of April 1981 indecently assaulted a female person aged between 13 and 15 years old, by performing oral sex on her, on an occasion other than in count 6.
Count 9 – Indecent Assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
Between 1st day of January 1984 and the 1st day of January 1985 indecently assaulted a female person aged 19 years, by touching her breasts and vagina.
Count 10 – Indecent Assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
On 31st of May 1986 indecently assaulted a female person aged 15 years by touching her upper leg and vagina.
Count 11 – Indecent Assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
On 31st day of May 1986 indecently assaulted a female person aged 15 years, by touching her breasts.
Count 12 – Indecent Assault contrary to section 14(1) of the Sexual Offences Act 1956
On 31st day of May 1986, indecently assaulted a female person aged 15 years, by digitally penetrating her vagina
