Sneaky shoppers are taking advantage of three for two deals by taking one item back.
It effectively means they are getting goods at up to half price.
Retailers offering such bargains include Marks and Spencer , Superdrug, Sainsburys and Argos.
For example shoppers buy two items for £4.50 and get a third for £4.50 one free. This is three for £9.00 . They then return the freebie for a refund at the last known selling cost , so can claim back £4.50 in store credit.
Shops say they are taking action to halt the trick.
