More activities that ever before are on offer in Haringey this summer, after Haringey Council pledged an extra £100,000 for free and low cost summer fun.
From skateboarding to squash and acting to arts and crafts, a host of activities will take place in every corner of the borough.
The council is investing a total of £102,230 into providing or supporting activities and has teamed up with a number of organisations to ensure many of their activities are low cost or even free.
Swimming sessions, free football and basketball, jewellery making, theatre courses, cooking and dance are on the menu, along with many more. Venues are spread right across the borough, from Albert Road Rec to White Hart Lane, ensuring children and young people of all ages can enjoy themselves.
Haringey Council Cabinet Member for Civic Services Cllr Zena Brabazon said:
“We know the summer holidays can be long and expensive which is why we have made extra funding available and put together a bumper programme of events that children and young people can access at a low cost or even for free.
“We are delighted so many local organisations are also providing activities, such as free drama workshops at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre and Twilight Basketball at Ducketts Common. The Markfield Project, which works with children who have special needs, has also had a boost in summer funding so more children can enjoy their summer which is so important for them and their families.
“With such a diverse range of sessions available, we hope there is something for everyone to enjoy this summer in Haringey.”
