THE KALAVASSOS community in the Larnaca district is mourning the death of a 13-year-old boy, who passed away yesterday after a simple cold left him suffering with breathing difficulties.
The teenager’s parents had taken him to their paediatrician on Friday after he started suffering from a cold. He was prescribed medication for the condition.
However, the illness showed no signs of subsiding and by the early hours of yesterday, the 13-year-old started having serious breathing difficulties.
Contacting the paediatrician, his parents were told to take him to a private clinic in Limassol, where due to the seriousness of his condition, he was rushed into the intensive care unit. Just two hours later, at 5.30 am, the boy passed away.
The boy was just days away from celebrating his 14th birthday. A post mortem today will determine the exact cause of death.
