Police in Limassol have arrested a teenager following a high-speed chase in a stolen car.
According to traffic police, the suspect – said to be a Russian national living in Limassol – was spotted driving a car at around 11.45pm on Navarino Street on Friday night. The vehicle had been reported stolen on August 24.
When officers attempted to flag down the car, it instead sped off at high chase prompting a high-speed chase through the streets of Limassol. Police investigators say that the car finally came to a stop when the driver lost control and hurled onto a roundabout island.
He attempted to escape on foot but was stopped in his tracks by police.
The 18-year-old said the car had been given to him by another 18-year-old who police have obtained an arrest warrant for.
