Tests in Cyprus on 10,000 employees in businesses operating from 2nd and 3rd phase of easing measures begin

Cyprus` Ministry of Health has announced that a testing programme on employees of businesses which resumed operations at the second and third phase of easing restrictive measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic begins on Monday.

The new testing programme will be subsidised by the Ministry of Health following a decision by the Cabinet on June 3, in the context of the government`s policy to conduct tests in the population taking into account the importance of testing in order to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and aiming to contain the coronavirus spread.

The programme is addressed to people working in premises and businesses which resumed operations on June 1st as well as all premises which resumed operations on June 9 and 13 and are offering their services to the public.

In particular, employees working in premises such as libraries, museums, archaelogical and historic sites, hotels and tourist accommodation as well as shopping centers, restaurants and gyms will be able to be tested.

The testing programme will be conducted across Cyprus and will not cover all employees, but rather about 30% of employees in such premises. Seventy employees will be tested in premises with 150+ employees, forty employees will be tested in premises with 100+ employees, 30 employees will be tested in premises with about 100 employees.

Employees themselves and not their employers are responsible to make arrangements for the test
