The Leukaemia Cancer Society are absolutely delighted to announce that Bank of Cyprus UK has chosen the Charity to be one of their two charities that they support in 2015/16.
A presentation recently took place at the Bank’s Southgate branch. A cheque of £3,000 was presented by Electra Costi, Credit Delivery Officer at Bank of Cyprus UK to the Charity’s Chairman Maria Nicolaou and Charity Trustee John Michaelides.
A spokesperson for the charity said, “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Bank of Cyprus UK for choosing us. We are really excited about working with you next year!
The bank’s support will help us continue our lifesaving work within the community. One major area of our work is recruiting potential Bone Marrow / Stem Cell donors. “Mediterranean people are very under-represented on the register. Thousands of people die waiting for a matching bone marrow donor every year simply because they are Cypriot, Greek, Italian, Spanish, Turkish. Just simply because they are Mediterranean origin. We know people do care but they need to show it, take personal ownership, act NOW and sign up. Blood Cancer can affect any one of us at any time of life.”
