The Pavilion in Crouch End saved from becoming ashes

Firefighters saved a Hornsey cricket pavilion from becoming Ashes while England’s bowlers were being put to the sword just 6 miles away Thursday afternoon.

The fire damaged part of the building’s extraction system on Park Road. A woman left the clubhouse before the Brigade arrived and was treated for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.

London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:

“We signalled for four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers to the scene. We caught the fire early which stopped the clubhouse from being well and truly stumped.

“The maiden run out of the pavilion before we arrived and she was treated as a precaution.

The Brigade was called at 1615 and the fire was under control by 1655. Fire crews from Holloway, Hornsey and Soho fire stations attended but didn’t stop for tea. The cause of the fire is under investigation
