The President of the Democratic Party DIKO Mr. Nicholas Papadopoulos and the leaders of the parties of the so-called middle ground, on or without any opportunity, are attacking AKEL, distorting its policy and positions.
Yesterday Mr. Papadopoulos accused AKEL that it is one of the biggest problems on the Cyprus problem because it is supposedly absolving Turkey and blaming the Greek Cypriot side for the non- solution of the Cyprus problem.
This is yet another vile distortion of AKEL’s positions. AKEL however will continue to stress that there are indeed policies that on one hand expose Turkish intransigence and designs, but on the other there have been and there are policies that facilitate these Turkish plans and the fait accompli against our country.
For example, a possible change in strategy, which Mr. Papadopoulos invokes, which can only mean the abandonment of the strategic goal for a bi-zonal, bi-communal federal solution, will not only not help solve the Cyprus problem, but will lead to the finalization of the occupation and partition.
