Three men involved in the supply of deadly firearms and ammunition have been jailed for a total of 31 years at Snaresbrook Crown Court today, Friday 30 June.
Don Boni Kasai – 23 (10.10.93) of Station Road, Barnet was jailed for 15-and-a-half years and Francis Doherty – 24 (07.02.93) of Osborne Road, N4 was jailed for ten-and-a-half years after both had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity at Snaresbrook Crown Court to conspiring to transfer prohibited weapons and conspiring to transfer prohibited ammunition.
Dylan Tracey – 24 (08.06.93) of Avenue Road, N6 was jailed for five years after pleading guilty to conspiring to transfer prohibited weapons. Tracey also pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
The convictions are a culmination of an investigation by the Trident and Area Crime Command in May and June. Boni Kasai, Doherty and Tracey were involved in selling firearms and ammunition to order, supplying the weapons to criminals in populated public areas in an attempt to avoid arousing suspicion.
However, their activities had come to the attention of police and Trident officers began to monitor the group’s movements. Officers swooped on Boni Kasai and Doherty as they attended a supermarket car park in East Barnet Road, Barnet on 30 June with the intention of supplying a firearm and ammunition. The pair were arrested.
Enquiries continued to locate Tracey and he was arrested after handing himself in to a north London police station on 17 August.
Over the course of the operation, officers recovered five revolvers and 16 rounds of ammunition.
Detective Inspector Steve Meechan of the Trident and Area Crime Command said:
“This was a complex investigation, driven by a wealth of intelligence sourced and secured by Trident officers which has targeted three men actively involved in the illegal supply of firearms.
“The weapons recovered were destined for London’s criminal fraternity including those involved in gang violence and removing them from circulation has no doubt prevented death or serious injury.
“Trident officers will continue to work tirelessly with partners to disrupt and detect such criminality, with those involved being put before the courts and jailed.
“The substantial custodial sentences handed down to these three today should act as a significant deterrent to those involved in all aspects of gang related crime
