Tottenham to host NFL matches at new stadium

Mr Lammy MP hailed the designs as a huge move forward for both the Borough and the Capital. He also welcomed the news that the new scheme would be offering more opportunities for local people and that it places Tottenham Hotspur right at the heart of the long-term regeneration of the area.

“This is a defining moment for the area,” said Mr Lammy. “It is a big step forward for Tottenham and a big step forward for London.”

In response to our announcement that agreement has been reached with the NFL to host a minimum of two games per year during a 10-year partnership at our new stadium, the Tottenham MP described it as: “A game changer – bold and ambitious.”

The 61,000-seater venue, which is due to open in 2018, will feature a retractable grass pitch for Premier League matches with an artificial surface for NFL games underneath.

“It keeps Tottenham at the centre of international sport well into the 21st century,” he added.
