Newly Elected Cllr Georgiou Hits the Ground Running with David Burrowes MP Six hours after being elected as an Enfield Borough Councillor for Southgate Green, Cllr Alessandro Georgiou joined David Burrowes MP for a walkabout along the A406. They met with the Transport for London Head of Capital Development Nigel Hardy and the area manager Ashok Bannerjee to discuss improvements to the A406 and surrounding roads.
Cllr Alessandro Georgiou said: “As a newly elected Councillor for Southgate Green I’ve realised the huge task we have ahead for improving the North Circular. I live on Bowes road, meaning most of the changes have and will affect me.
The new housing developments along the Telford road and current infrastructure changes mean that the people of Southgate Green need an active voice to make sure they are consulted on every major change. I will be working closely with David Burrowes MP to make sure the people in our area get a good deal.”
David Burrowes MP added, “I am delighted that Alessandro Georgiou has been elected to represent his local area. It is a sign of Alessandro’s dedication to his role as Councillor that only a few hours after being elected he was out with me to meet with TfL representatives.
We had the opportunity to raise important local issues like the proposed ‘mini-Holland’ cycle lane scheme and need for junction improvements for roads adjoining the A406.”
