Apollon coach Christakis Christoforou has kept himself busy ahead of his side’s crucial clash against Ermis Aradippou on Monday night by signing on three young players ahead of the new season.
The Limassol club, who got their domestic campaign off to a disappointing start after losing 5-2 at home to AEK Larnaca but also reached their second consecutive Europa League group stage after stunning Lokomotiv Moscow 4-1 last week, announced the signings of Greek centre-back Christos Intzidis as well as former Sporting Lisbon academy players Farely Rosa and Luka Stojanovic on Monday.
The 1.89m Intzidis is currently on the books at PAOK but spent last season on loan at Platanias and Levadiakos. He has made five senior appearances at PAOK. Speaking to Apollon’s official website, the 21-year-old said it didn’t take long for him to accept the Limassol club’s offer.
“Everything has happened so fast but I am glad to be continuing my career at a club like Apollon. Things are very professional here and it didn’t take long for me to make my decision. Which player would say no to joining a team that is targeting two domestic titles and is involved in the Europa League.”
Rosa, who is 20 and a product of the Sporting Lisbon youth academy, was released by Ukrainian club FC Sevastopol in the summer and is described as a speedy attacking midfielder with Christoforou keen to find cover for star player Gaston Sangoy.
Stojanovic, who is 21 and another Sporting Lisbon youth player, can play either in central midfield or as a defensive-midfielder.
Apollon will take part in the Europa League this season and will face Villareal, Borussia Monchengladbach and FC Zurich.
