Turkish Cypriot leader walks out of today’s meeting in the UN-led peace talks

CNA – CYPRUS/Nicosia 16/02/2017 11:57
The Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci walked out of today’s meeting, part of UN-led settlement talks, with President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, according to a well-informed source.

The meeting was scheduled to start at 10.00am local time (8.00am GMT), in the framework of UN-led talks for a Cyprus solution.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. President Anastasiades and Akinci have been engaged since May 2015 in UN-led talks with an aim to reunify the island under a federal roof.
