UK Cypriot Nicholas Panayiotou running London Marathon for Children with Cancer

Greek Cypriot Nicholas Panayiotou from Islington is running the London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April 2018 to raise money for Children with Cancer, a charity which funds more than 50 research projects at centres of excellence around the UK, investigating a broad range of childhood cancers – helping to better understand these diseases and to find more effective, less toxic ways of treating them.

Through the charity’s investment in research, our understanding of childhood cancer is taken forward, to give new insights into ways of treating young patients with even the most difficult forms of cancer. Children with Cancer works to drive up the survival rate still further by developing more-effective curative therapies with fewer toxic side-effects.

Nicholas, 47, stopped smoking over six years ago and decided to get fit for his little girl Annabella who will be cheering for him on the day. He chose to support this particular charity as both his parents have been affected by cancer.

“It was heartbreaking to see how brave some of the children in the hospital were and this is why I am trying to raise as much as possible for them. My brothers and I were brought up with traditional values and contributed to the community whenever possible. Any help is welcome to help push me over the finish line.”

You can support Nicholas by making a donation, however big or small, online Here

Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity’s behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
